5 Ways To Ignite Passion Back Into Your Life

By December 6, 2014 Life, Personal Development
Passion

If you’ve ever wondered where the passion in your life has gone, then look no further. It never went anywhere – it’s waiting inside you to be re-ignited. Life without passion is like a fire without a flame – pretty damn dull. Sometimes it’s there, other times you might wonder if it’s ever going to come back.

Why is passion important? Simply put it makes you feel alive. It is the substance that causes people to go from rags to riches or for an athlete to get up in the early hours of the morning to train for several hours. Without it, your life can feel empty, meaningless and mundane.

What Is Passion?

Passion is our life-force. It is part of our energy system that lies dormant until required. I call this potential energy. It’s not that it ever goes away or gets lost it’s just that sometimes we close the door on it. This usually happens through shutting down mentally or emotionally to the world around us.

Here’s some of the ways passion can be blocked…

  • Making excuses instead of decisions
  • Having no goals or dreams to focus on
  • Not managing stress effectively and becoming overloaded or overwhelmed
  • Obsessing over things that can’t be changed
  • Procrastinating
  • Allowing fear to hold you back from living life to the fullest

What if I told you that you are in control of how little or how much passion you have in your life?

Let me explain…

There are ways that you can harness the power of passion and like a river flowing to the ocean allow you potential energy to flow freely through your body.

Let’s look at some of the ways you can do this.

5 Ways To Have More Passion in Your Life

I remember a time when I was stuck on the treadmill of life of getting up, going to a job I hated and then coming home exhausted. The only passion I really had at that time was for the weekend to hurry up and arrive. Talk about wishing your life away.

Since then, I’ve come to understand just how important it is to live an inspired life versus and uninspired one. So let’s take a look at the top 5 ways that i was able to re-ignite the fire of passion back in my life and how you can too.

1. Harness the Power of Your Mind and Thoughts

Your mind is one of the most powerful tools you possess. If you learn to harness this power you can achieve whatever you want out of life. If you don’t, you will always feel like you’ve missed out on something really important.

There’s a saying, “If you think you can or think you can’t – you’re right”. This is why some people succeed where others fail. It’s just a matter of belief. One of the easiest ways to rekindle passion using your mind is to read personal development books or listen to self improvement audios. This can lead to new ways of thinking and behaving, both of which are essential to getting out of any ruts you may find yourself in.

2. Live a Life of Purpose

A purpose is anything that you can focus on that inspires you. It could be to get rid of your mortgage earlier, lose weight, make new friends or anything at all that will improve your quality of life.

Having a purpose or many purposes in life is a powerful psychological and emotional stimulant. It’s one of the key ingredients to being productive and achieving things that are important to you. If you don’t already have a clearly defined purpose for the next 3 months, then choose one. It doesn’t matter what it is, just make sure it’s something that inspires you.

3. Have a Written Set of Goals

Once you have a purpose, write it down. Just writing down what you want gives it more power. Then list all the steps you need to take to achieve your purpose put a deadline on them and you have yourself a focus for the next 3 months. Your mind needs a focal point otherwise left to it’s own device it will take you down any old path it gets obsessed by.

4. Your Attitude Determines Your Altitude

There are only 2 attitudes that I am aware of. The first is the attitude of the pessimist. For this person there’s always something to complain about, worry about or be negative about.

The second is the attitude of the optimist. This person acknowledges the hard times yet chooses to look for the good in all things or people. They are solution orientated, have a positive mental attitude and have a never-give-up attitude to life.
You are 100% responsible for the attitude you adopt each day.

It’s a choice you can make despite what circumstances you are in or what the day ahead may bring. If you really want the wings of your passion to fly free then a great attitude to adopt is the Attitude of Gratitude.

The easiest way I have found to develop this life transforming mind-set is to ask your self this question before getting out of bed in the morning, “What am I grateful about in my life now?” Keep asking it until you actually feel thankful for something.

I always find 10 things to be thankful for. This causes my heart to open and fill my body with the emotion of joy before I begin each day.

5. Do What You Love

Nothing will rob you of passion quicker than doing what you hate. Do your best to never put yourself in a position where you resent what your doing be it for work or play.

Resentment inevitably turns into bitterness and that’s no fun for you or anyone else to be around. Not to mention it can ruin your health.

Instead, make your life’s mission to only do what you love or at least do everything you can to find something you can do that brings you joy. Life is too short to live without a purpose and a purpose is something that makes your heart and soul sing.

If you don’t know what that is yet, then start with a hobby. It could be singing, or dancing, or writing, or gardening, in fact is doesn’t matter what it is as long as you are passionate about it.

Passion is like a muscle – it can be developed. The more you use it in positive and productive ways the stronger it will become within you. Then before you know it, you will start attracting things into your life faster and easier than you ever dreamed possible.
